I work for a company that is stationed at the airport and i needed to be cleared to work at the airport?

i was cleared to work there but the background check showed a traffic violation and they reported it to the company i work for at the airport and i was then fired. Can they legally notify my company about this?I work for a company that is stationed at the airport and i needed to be cleared to work at the airport?
Yes. Read your question over and perhaps you'll see that the answer is right there. You needed to be cleared to work there, you weren't, so now you can't work there.I work for a company that is stationed at the airport and i needed to be cleared to work at the airport?
You generally have to sign an authorization for a background check that gives the company investigating you permission to seek and disclose your information.

  • Why are latin t.v. stations clearer and easier to get reception from?

What could possibly be the reason? Why are latin t.v. stations clearer and easier to get reception from?
Latin broadcasting has the newest broadcast equipment, best studio to brodcast technology, best digital cameras, and everything is ';in synch'; because it was built up so quickly.

By comparison, most local broadcasters still use old equipment where they can (like analog mixers and cable patch boards) because it is so expensive to replace everything. One has many different generations of equipment in use in one station.

Especially transmission equipment, some of that cabling can be 20 years old.Why are latin t.v. stations clearer and easier to get reception from?
The pope speaks latin and this is a superior language.I didnt know there are clearer and easier more sophisticated latin stations on television.
A very good question. I have been asking this about my car radio for years. I get bad reception of local stations at times, but the Latino radio comes in strong and clear. Maybe it is time for the FCC to check this out and give us a better reception too.

Nickel stuck in cd player of 2004 saturn ion. now, clock and radio stations cleared out. radio turns on & off?

radio is turning on and off while driving. set stations wiped out. clock reset to midnight, like clocks in the house when you lose power. a nickel was shoved in there by a child and also hit a huge bump couple of days ago. no major problems until the big bump. can't afford to go to dealership. any way to fix this ourselves? someone said the nickel can destroy entire electrical system of car. need help asap. Thanks!Nickel stuck in cd player of 2004 saturn ion. now, clock and radio stations cleared out. radio turns on %26amp; off?
get a powerful magnet and use a pair of needle nose pliers to hold it and put in the slot to get the nickel out....Nickel stuck in cd player of 2004 saturn ion. now, clock and radio stations cleared out. radio turns on %26amp; off?
well yes its shorting out the radio ... can you see it tweezers it... or remove radio and shake it out... and never go to any dealer unless there no other shops open... sorry but they sell cars they not much good for fixing them sorry but most of the time they are young guys who know little and they are the highest place to get work done
you need to have that radio removed and opened to remove that nickle. it will ruin your radio.

I bought 09 Accord Coupe in June since owning it my radio stations fade in and out and never come in clear.?

Should be a bad connection on your antenna. Since your Accord is still under warranty, I would recommend taking it to your Honda dealer and have them check it.I bought 09 Accord Coupe in June since owning it my radio stations fade in and out and never come in clear.?
Take it back to the dealer and complain. Maybe the radio is bad, maybe you have a bad antenna connection. Who knows. Take it back and tell them to fix it under warranty.

Without cable why are the only clear channels Telemundo, Home Shopping Network, Univision, religious stations?

What happened to the major networks? I thought they were free.Without cable why are the only clear channels Telemundo, Home Shopping Network, Univision, religious stations?
I don'tknow what's wrong with your tv, but I don't have cable and I get good channels like fox, abc, cbs, wb, and pbs.Without cable why are the only clear channels Telemundo, Home Shopping Network, Univision, religious stations?

Yes and if you shake the remote, it too will work regardless of whether it needs new batteries. If i beat on the side of my TV,will the station come in clearer?
that..or a swift kick usually does the trick...If i beat on the side of my TV,will the station come in clearer?
    yes!!!
    cable.....
If it does you must have something loose. Have you seen that commercial, an Asian man has a knock of some sort in his car so he bangs on the dash, the knock stops and he smiles, and then two or three seconds later the whole car collapses, I cracked up the first time that I saw that. Well maybe this could happen to your TV, you could really mess things up, knock a wire loose etc.
Only if you use your head.
no not really - maybe for a few seconds but reality is the computer components inside will be getting loser every time you wack it
Dude, you so should bust out the .44 and just put a bullet in the POS and then go get a new one
Actually,u become pregnant if u beat on your tv.
    maybe try it!
maybe, why doncha give it a try lol
Modern TVs have built-in obsolescence. Why not smash it instead. I think you'll enjoy it.

If most fm radio stations come in crystal clear and most am do not, why aren't allstations fm?

AM Radio waves go much further than FM radio waves. I can't remember the exact reason why, but i know that they do. Try using AM radio at night....it works much better than it usually does in the day or while its cloudy/raining.If most fm radio stations come in crystal clear and most am do not, why aren't allstations fm?
    FM is short wave

    AM/MW Is medium wave

    LW is long wave

it all works on distancesIf most fm radio stations come in crystal clear and most am do not, why aren't allstations fm?
AM radio gets much better distance. It has something to do with the fact that for AM the amplitude is getting modulated as opposed to the frequency, hence the names AM and FM.
FM stations are more expensive from an equipment standpoint. Also there are many talk radio stations that use AM instead of FM. When you are using talk radio as a format, you don't need to rely on stereo that music stations on the FM band must have.

    Hope this helps!

I am having radio problems...My FM radio stations wont come in clear...they are only come in clear in the city

You're probably at the edge of their signals.

For inside: You can try to add more boost to your antenna (or add one if you don't have an antenna) by just attaching some wire to the existing antenna or to the screws on the back of the set.

In the car, there's not really much you can do. All car systems have built-in antennas. Some are better than others.

Does anyone know what stations are the clearest for the iTrip in Central NJ?

I go from Middlesex, Monmouth, Mercer Counties. 100.9 works ok....any other suggestions?Does anyone know what stations are the clearest for the iTrip in Central NJ?
Go to this site: http://fmchannel.sirius.com/ to find the clearest local FM channels for FM-modulated devices.

Why don't AM radio stations come in clear? What is the point of having them?

The clarity of an AM station depends on many things, including atmospheric conditions. Depending on where you are, they can be very clear. FM is better for things like music, but if what you're producing is along the lines of news or talk radio, then with AM the quality difference won't matter and you can literally, if the conditions are right, send your signal halfway across the world. Why don't AM radio stations come in clear? What is the point of having them?
    They can get further away.

  • On full moon day the FM stations are very clear. Why like this?

This I used to experience and also on fog days the same thing happens. Do some one else feel like this/On full moon day the FM stations are very clear. Why like this?
    * The atmospere is clean and clear*On full moon day the FM stations are very clear. Why like this?
Nothing to do with the moon.

At this time of year, temperature inversions occur, especially around dawn and dusk, which means the air above is warmer than the air below.

These conditions (don't ask me how) cause FM signals to ';duct'; rather than escape off into space, creating stronger signals or signals from relatively distant transmitters that are not normally heard.

The reason you see the moon is, firstly, it's bright and obvious when it's full and, secondly, because there is no cloud, a typical situation when there's a temperature inversion.

    Hope this helps.

Ham radio operators use inversions to contact other hams that they are not normally able to reach.

Some stations come in very static or they are talking from another station while on a totally different station. Also, some stations do come in. Is there any type of reset button or something? It's a 2000 General Electric TVI have a 2000 GE TV. Some stations come in clear, most other ones have static . What's wrong?
Are you using an antenna? If so, you need

to get an amplified antenna for better reception.

Will Clear Channel Radio pull its stations from Arbitron's ratings?

    http://www.madcityradio.com/messages/1402.html

Anyone have inside info or insight? Will Clear Channel Radio pull its stations from Arbitron's ratings?
    I'm Thinking So.

RRBWill Clear Channel Radio pull its stations from Arbitron's ratings?
If they pull out, it's just that they can not quote where they stand in the Arbitron ratings which helps sell advertising. I would bet they will pay Arbitron for the rights to use them in the last few ';minutes';. Unless, another company starts to do ratings and have the respect of the industry like Arbitron does. Lots of the few remaining smaller radio stations don't subscribe, but they still see how that rate.

Ohh look we are #1 with 12 to 18 yrs Old...larger advertisers selling houses and cars don't care, but the station can claim they are #1 in their market...don't have to say it's among kids.
Not on the inside, but my guess is it's a ploy until Nielsen is ready to roll it's stuff.

Basically the three measuring are Arbitron, Edison Research, and Now Nielsen... However Arbitron is the defacto standard... and with Clear Channel being so big, I think they are trying to throw their weight around to get good rates as well as a way to manipulate the ratings more.. or at least get some time until Nielsen can compete and cause a war with the weight of each.

I don't know what you're talking about but I do know what ';blunt wraps'; are and certain gas stations do sell them. I know that 7-11, wawa's, and other little convenient stores have them. Don't smoke it's bad for you!

How come i can catch far away radio stations better at night or when its raining than during a clear day?

Because those transmitters beam their signals in your direction during the night rather than day time to your location. More people are likely to be listening rather than be at work during the day. Secondly there is less solar interference at night where you are.

Isn't it great to listen to shortwave? I have been doing it all my life since ten years old. I have been surfing the waves long before the Internet was even thought of.

Happy listening, it is very educational. How come i can catch far away radio stations better at night or when its raining than during a clear day?
hmm.. maybe because: electric sound waves are sent through wires. and water conducts electricity. it is cooler and night, so the air is more dense. so it could conduct better and therefore clearer? im really unsure but that would be my best guessHow come i can catch far away radio stations better at night or when its raining than during a clear day?
sun spots. I'm not sure what they are, but when I worked at a place where we used two way radios, I know there was a lot more interference on a bright sunny day than a cloudy day or at night. The radio guy said it was from sun spots.

  • How do you get radio play with stations ran by Radio One or Clear Channel?

http://www.mediauk.com/How do you get radio play with stations ran by Radio One or Clear Channel?
Most of the music selected by big groups such as those mentioned are previewed by corporate, then local Music Directors. These musicologists take a lot of variables into consideration. One of them is how much SUPPORT will the record label be putting behind the song. Your best bet, if as i suspect you are not represented, is to go to

    www.radio-locator.com

and find the stations operated by those groups in the format (genre) that fits your style of music. Go to the websites and see if there is a link where you can upload your song for their consideration. It's a long shot - but not impossible. Good luck

The AM stations in on my car radio come in clear, but my FM stations do not. What is the problem?

Here's what's going on: the radio in your car has a built-in AM antenna. It seems to be working properly. However, the FM antenna, aka that wire sticking out of either your hood or trunk, is what brings in the FM stations, and does not appear to be connected to your radio. If you're brave enough to try getting your radio out yourself, all you will have to do is take it out and plug in the antenna (which has probably just slipped out of the back of your radio). otherwise, take your car to someplace that sells car radios (i.e. Best Buy or a similar store) and tell them the problem. The AM stations in on my car radio come in clear, but my FM stations do not. What is the problem?
Perhaps the FM antenna has come loose from the back. The AM antenna is actually inside the radio. The AM stations in on my car radio come in clear, but my FM stations do not. What is the problem?
Your antennae is not working. The AM stations really don't work through your car antennae, just the FM.
Well it easy to see that of the three answers ahead of mine that each of these people have no idea about what they are talking.

In a car stereo with AM and FM both radios (notice I said BOTH radios) use the external antenna on the can be it on a fender or in the windshield!

ALL AM - FM radios are (2) TWO radios in the same case using a common power supply and a common amplifier, BUT with SEPARATE tuning systems, (1) ONE for AM Frequency range of 550 to 1600 KHz, and (1) ONE for FM Frequency range of 88 - 108 MHz.

If the AM sounds normal then it is working correctly and it is the simplest of the 2 receivers usually consisting of 3 - 4 transistors or one IC.

    If the FM sounds weak or distorted then I would suspect that one of 2 thinks has happened, A the RF amplifier stage for the FM has gone bad (AM doesn't have this) or B one of the FM IF (INTERMEDIATE FREQUENCY AMPLIFIERS) has gotten detuned or the transistor is going bad, { AM has these also and sometimes they are partly shared }

but in most cases it is the FM RF amp stage that has gone bad.

ALSO sometimes the ant connector will pull part way out of the radio and this will affect FM more than AM but not likely

BUT UNDER NO CONDITION IS THE AM RADIO ANTENNA CONTAINED INSIDE THE RADIO IN A car stereo, they are not the same as a pocket or HOME RADIO and never will be!

If it is not the ant plug, then if you are able you could pull the radio and take it to a repair shop, as there are no ';USER SERVICEABLE ITEMS IN THE RADIO'; unless it is a antique tube type!

ALSO sometimes the antenna cable itself will go bad, you can tell if this is the case by unplugging the ant from the radio and inserting a piece of wire in to the center hole in the antenna connection, if the am and FM are then both good just replace the antena.

    ON NEW CARS ROFL!
It really depends on the make, model and year of your vehicle. The AM band is weaker and in a working radio will always get worse reception than the FM band. If your AM is okay and you have no FM, than you have a defective radio. Alot of Chrysler radios and older GM radios will have the FM front end go bad inside the radio.

Does anyone know which FM radio stations in the metro Atlanta area are owned by Clear Channel?

I want to be able to avoid these stations when I'm listening to radio in my car (because Clear Channel is evil).Does anyone know which FM radio stations in the metro Atlanta area are owned by Clear Channel?
Why don't you check their website? I'm sure you would find out a lot quicker that way.

Does it seem like Clear Channel owned 106.7 FM The Fox will not last as a Country radio station in Detroit?

Have you checked the Arbitron radio ratings for metro Detroit lately at www.arbitron.com?

99.5 FM WYCD Detroit's Best Country is killing 106.7 FM The Fox with ratings.

Clear Channel will soon have to pick a new format for 106.7 FM very soon.

Maybe they will relauch the website www.1067needshelp.com again and we can pick a new format for 106.7 FM.Does it seem like Clear Channel owned 106.7 FM The Fox will not last as a Country radio station in Detroit?
it's not going to last at all.Does it seem like Clear Channel owned 106.7 FM The Fox will not last as a Country radio station in Detroit?
I wish I was back at home in Detroit I am stuck in Rockford Illinois we have only one R%26amp;B station 106.3 and it sucks for the most part. Anyway I will be back in June 08 if all goes well with chrysler and our new contract.
The times they are a changing. Not even Oldies 104.3 plays the same music it played 6-10 years ago (as in the 50s are gone from the catalog).

Whatever happens will be dictated by advertising dollars.

The question on my mind is whether or not the genre will be represented on HD radio in Detorit. It's not just a question for Country, but for all music.

I personally don't expect more than a token Country station in Detroit Rock City, not after the homogenization that took place a few years ago.
Hard to believe there would be anything but ROCK in THE ROCK CITY!!! Is there a song called Detroit country city? I think not!!

Why do Clear Channel stations always play all this indie music instead of more commercial homogeneous stuff?

    I hate that, don't you?

Come on...I want to hear the same 2 CD's on repeat, with loads of commercials. Because I love capitalism.

Freakin clear channel communists. Why do Clear Channel stations always play all this indie music instead of more commercial homogeneous stuff?
Because, unknown new music is the future.... What better way for clear channel to give all of those millions it's making hand over fist back to the artists than to play all of the indie stuff... sometimes I have found a station sneak in something from MTV once or twice but not usually as they are being good people and supporting the 1 guitar artist recording on the old cd player and one mic setup with a beat up guitar .. one who is on dial up internet connection borrowing the phone line and power from a neighbor just so Clear Channel can show him the money and then promply remove him after the second song gets popular as he is getting commercial now... You know, leaving it for the independent radio operator to finally play. Why do Clear Channel stations always play all this indie music instead of more commercial homogeneous stuff?
    Satan's work. Everyone knows that...
Yeah! Too much whining about love, not enough toe-licking! Or something like that!
    Funny.

    Took me a minute.

To make this an official answer, because that's where the money is.

My husband has now been in AIT for 3 weeks to the day and we've been told there should be SOMETHING on his ako. Alot of others in his company have already gotten there orders, excluding him. I've been everywhere on there and cannot seem to find it. Some one advised me to look on his ERB at the bottom and it should say it on there and the only thing i see is his basic training and MEPS. His AIT station still isnt on there. And then i was also told it could be because its restricted access and it is and i dont know how to get around there. Im really stressing about the move and not having alot of time to find a home. Is it normal or should he know? His MOS is 88m and he is NOT airbourne. His is currently in Fort Lenorwood, MO. PLEASE LET ME KNOW EVERYTHING YOU KNOW! PLEASE!!!!

    army wife,

MaloreeStill not clear on how to find our 1st duty station on AKO?
You can check in his personal file, that you can find on the AKO under the human Resource Command I think, in there you should find a tag that says assignments. In there if it does not state on assignment with a date and place, that means it is yet to be determined where he is going. And please dont stress out about moving, I have moved with the military twice with less than 2 weeks notice and everything worked out just fine. As an Army wife, get used to surprises and take nothing for granted unless you have it in writing. Thousands of Army families move evry year, there are resources available for you. check out www.militaryonesource.com or call them at 1-800-342-9647 they have great resources and once you know where you are going, check out www.militaryhomefront.dod.mil for great tips on moving and relocating.

Also, most posts have so called Relocation Assistance as well as housing and housing referral offices that you can contact before getting to your new post. For housing keep in mind that the Army urges you to go through their referral office to find a place to stay, because they have been ';screened to an extend and housing will make sure they have ';military clauses'; in the lease which will let you out of a lease if your hubby gets reassigned.

One more thing, try to take the AFTB (Army Family Team Building- stupid name for a great program) classes, they are sort of Army 101 for spouses, very informative, plus you can meet new people. AFTB is part of ACS (army Community Services) check them out they have a lot of different things to offer, including relocation assistance and always an opern ear for questions and concerns.

Click on the ASK button. There should be a link in the ASK screen for ';on assignment.'; That's where you look.

There also used to be a phone number you could call 1800 FYI EPMD.

    (Enlisted Personnel Management Directorate)

It was an automated system to tell you if you were on assignment, all you need is the SSN. I don't know if it still works.

Don't bother looking at the ERB. Those are always screwed up, until you go to personnel to get them fixed. (Usually this happens about a month before the E-7 promotion board)Still not clear on how to find 1st duty station on AKO?
Your husband will recieve his orders just before he finishes 88M ';truck driving school'; until he recieves his orders there is no telling wher he will go. If you log into his AKO if he has one, you can look on the ASK ( ? Army Satisfaction Key ?) but that is just a list of his requests for Duty stations. the best thing I can reccomend is just for you to relax about where you are going and plan accordingly for the upcoming move. You will need to think about what all you are going to need to leave out of the moving van that you will need for up to a 2 month period of time. You will probalby live in a hotel for a few weeks until you find a house to live in or move into Army housing.

As soon as your husbands Gaining Unit gets word that he will be coming to them you should be contacted by your ';sponsor'; who will assist you with your moving, finding a place to stay as well as learning the Army systems that are in place to help you with your issues.

Is comcast hd as clear as on the air digital hd broadcasts by local stations?

I am thinking about upgrading to HD from comcast from basic cable, but i have over 15 digital broadcasts (the HD is very good, standard, ok) over the air in my area. The free HD broadcasts are very clear, like computer monitor clear, so is it worth upgrading and paying $8 a month more for the same or worse picture? Is comcast hd as clear as on the air digital hd broadcasts by local stations?
No, not at all. Comcast is ';forced'; to compress their signal due to bandwidth restrictions (meaning they are too cheap to invest in putting out a quality high def signal without stripping channels). The signal from your local stations is not nearly as compressed, therefore the quality is MUCH higher.

Comcast is trash, end of story. Is comcast hd as clear as on the air digital hd broadcasts by local stations?
I can't see the quality of Comcast in your area, however, playing the odds, Over The Air would probably look much better. Most cable companies must compress the signals to make room for more channels on their systems. Compression reduces resolution.

Clearest FM station for iPod transmitter?

I've been using 88.1FM but I hope there is something clearer as it is a bit dirty. Anyone know?Clearest FM station for iPod transmitter?
Try to find a fm station that is does not come in clear in your area.Clearest FM station for iPod transmitter?
I believe it mostly has to do with where you are. 88.5 and 88.1 work well for me usually. 95.3 works perfectly for me in half of my city, but not at all in the other half. Try out a few different frequencies, but chances are you're going to have to change it a lot if you don't use it in a specific general area most of the time.
I'm in Lubbock, Texas and I use 107.7 fm. Anything higher than 106 has worked better for me compared to the low 88's and 87's. You just gatta get the farthest away from a radio station as you possibly can lol

  • The digital stations already in progress are clear on my set coming off the antenna but why?

does it just fade out while we are watching and it says '; no signal'; the volume of sound is a lot less also, why? Is it really all about motivation to subscribe to cable? I understand that drops out the signal from time to time also. The digital stations already in progress are clear on my set coming off the antenna but why?
This will happen if you have a borderline signal coming in. You can troubleshoot this a few ways.

The first thing to do is go to http://www.antennaweb.org and check the stations in your area. Find out what direction they're in and what antenna it recommends to receive them. If possible, change your antenna's direction to point towards the stations you are looking to receive.

If you have done that, the next thing to look into would be whether your using an antenna preamp. If you have a large antenna without one, buying one may help. Check out the channelmaster CM7777. This should be attaches right at the antenna if possible.

If you are already using an antenna preamp then it may be best to invest in a better directional antenna. Go to http://www.solidsignal.com and check out the DB2/DB4/DB8 antennas. They are great directional antennas without spending too much.

Here is a link to the DB8:

http://www.solidsignal.com/prod_display.鈥?/a>The digital stations already in progress are clear on my set coming off the antenna but why?
The problem is that the technology hasn't been all figured out yet, it's that simple. But the fcc is still pushing it anyway. The transition was originally supposed to take place in 2007, and I used to work for a major broadcast company that had been successfully fighting this transition for years because it simply doesn't work as perfect as people are being led to believe. I mean how many times has your analog signal just froze or become pixelated, or have the tv say there's no signal? probably none.

Sorry to say, but while dtv is still in its early stages, this is something that consumers are being forced into and we're just going to have to deal with it until somebody figures it all out. And who knows when that will be. It doesn't have to do with motivating people to subscribe to cable, because it happens from time to time on cable as well.
Most ';digital'; stations are presently broadcasting both digital and analog signals. When the switch is made to digital, the analog signal will be eliminated and without a conversion box, you will get only snow and static on an analog television set.

My play station 2 has no clear display... the screen keeps moving up and down any suggestions !!!!?

If you're in the US and trying to play a european (PAL) game then it will look like the Vertical hold on your TV is screwed up. Ensure that the disc is US Region 1 NTSC.

or will it be all static-y, like all the other stations? I don't want to invest in an HD radio if the sound quality will be poor. Will HD Radio stations come in clear in the mountains?
A digital radio station will come in clear or not at all for the most part. There are some conditions when the signal is very borderline where it will come in, drop out, come in, etc. These borderline conditions are not all that common.

It's hard to say if you will receive a usable digital signal, but barring the borderline condition, if you receive it, it will be clear with no static.

';Clear Channel';... do you mean the company or the type of station ?

I would LOVE a station that plays only Classic Country !!!!Do you guys think we need a new clear channel radio station that only features music and stories of the class!
    ';Clear Channel'; has two meanings:

    1) The company, ';Clear Channel Radio Inc.'; I work for them quite often.

    2) An AM radio station which has no other stations on the same frequency within the united states and, with the proper power, can be heard all over the country.

So, to answer your question, if Clear Channel Radio, Inc wants to do this, I'm all for it. ... If it is a 'Clear Channel'; frequency, then I see no reason to forbid it. The owner of the license is responsible for the format, not the FCC.

If I'm near the station and can get reception, I would probably listen.
If only that would happen it would be great.
We have that...any time Eddie Stubbs is on WSM, clear channel 650, in Nashville.

Can you see the space station in the sky on a clear night?

Yes you can, and if it is a nice clear %26amp; still night, and you look at it with a pair of good binoculars, you can see a surprising amount of detail!

There is a downloadable application here that will allow you to know exactly where to look:

http://science.nasa.gov/Realtime/JTrack/鈥?/a>Can you see the space station in the sky on a clear night?
Yes, I have seen it. It looks like a fairly fast moving star going in a straight line. I knew it would be passing overhead one night so I went out and looked for it (there is no light pollution where I live so it wasn't hard to spot). Can you see the space station in the sky on a clear night?
if the international space station is floating above ur city, then on a clear night, i figure u could see it as a bright dot. it wouldn't twinkle because it is much closer to the earth than the stars that do twinkle and so the light that reflects off the space station wont need to refract through the layers of the atmosphere so much. therefore, the space station would look like a bright dot, slightly larger than the other stars around.
Of course you can! In fact, the ISS or International Space Station is quite bright and moves very fast. However, since the ISS doesn't travel over the same spot on the earth below, you will have to check it's orbital ephmeris to see when it passes over your location. Visit some of NASA's websites to see when the ISS is visible in your area.
Yes -- if the time it passes over your location corresponds to a time when it's lit by the sun but dark at your location :)

You can get information on when the ISS will be passing over your location and whether it will be lit or not at a nice (free and no pop-up) website called ';Heavens Above'; -- link below. You should also check out the Iridium flares for your location...these are fun to watch :)
depends where u are but yes
Yes you can, but it depends on were you live because ISS has a continuous orbit in the same location every 90 minutes. Heres a link to it's oribital flight path http://spaceflight.nasa.gov/realdata/tra鈥?/a>

Go there and it tells you about it's current orbit.
The space station is easy to see and quite bright (comparable to the brightest planets) when it passes over you at a time when it is in sunlight and you are in shadow, in the early evening or early morning. It moves quite quickly, moving from horizon to horizon in a minute or so.

You kids should have seen Echo I and II back in the early 60's. Now those were bright satellites...

How can i reset my yahoo! radio station to clear everything?

It's easy to do, but can be a little tedious if you have lots of ratings.

Sign in to music.yahoo.com, then click on the Edit my Station link. On your station page, on the left you have links for Artists, Albums, Songs, and Genres. Go to Artists. You will see your top 20 rated artists. Double-click on each rating to make the rating go away. Continue the process until you have no more artists rated. Do the same for Albums and Songs.

For your genre ratings, you have to go look at each genre to see if it is rated, and then unrate it. Don't forget to check the subgenres and sub-subgenres.

Unfortunately, there is no ';start over'; button. Deleting ratings one at a time is the only way you can totally reset your station. But it does go much more quickly than you might imagine. How can i reset my yahoo! radio station to clear everything?
Have you tried de-selecting all the genres? Not sure if this would work, it's just an idea.

Or maybe just start over eith a new one

How do I clear songs and start my Yahoo! Music radio station over?

Yahoo! MUSIC Radio StationHow do I clear songs and start my Yahoo! Music radio station over?
I gave this answer to someone who wanted to totally start over on their station. It sounds like that is what you want to do, too. It's a long answer, but maybe all you need is in the next 3-4 paragraphs.

#1 - If you want to wipe out all of your ratings and start over, you have to do them one at a time, but it goes more quickly than you might think. Even if you had 10,000 ratings, you could have them all deleted in an hour or so.

Here is the fast way to do it. In IE, go to music.yahoo.com and sign in. On the Launchcast Radio tab, go to ';edit my station';. When that page comes up, you will have a list of links on the left side of your page.

First, let's reset all your artists. Click on the Artists link. This brings up a list of your rated artists, sorted from highest to lowest. Launchcast shows you 20 at one time, and gives you a drop-down list so you can go to any group of 20. Go to your ';last'; artists. When they come up, double click on the rating widget for each artist. This causes the ratings for those artists to go away. Click ';Previous 20';. Repeat the procedure until all of your artist ratings are gone. You should be able to delete 100-200 ratings per minute. (I suggested going to the end and working backwards to make it easy to delete them all. Otherwise, if you delete the first 20 and then click next, Launchcast may reorder your list and you may end up skipping a screenful each time.)

Go back to your Edit Station page and repeat the procedure for Albums and Songs.

Finally, to reset your genres, go back to your Edit page and click on Genres. Here you will have to just work your way through all the genres looking for those you have rated. Reset them the same way, by double clicking on the widget. If this part takes longer than 2 minutes, I would be surprised.

Now you have a station with no ratings, ready for you to start your ratings anew.

#2- Here is a quick course in getting your station to play what you like:

Through ratings, tell LC what you want to hear. Don't spend a lot of time telling LC what you don't want to hear. LC doesn't handle a lot of negative (';Never Play';) ratings real well.

Use the 4-star system or the 100 point system. Either works, but the 100-point system gives you finer control.

Be somewhat discriminating about the ratings you assign. Don't rate everything either 100 or Never Play. Try to think in terms of ';do I want to hear this song more or less than average';, or use the ';Star'; system of ';It's just OK';, ';I like it';, ';I love it';, and ';can't get enough';.

Your ratings tell LC how often you want to hear a song (artist, album, genre), not how good the song is. Those two things are similar but not identical. For example, I think Stairway to Heaven is a really good song but I've heard it so often in my life that I give it a low rating on my station. I don't want to hear it anymore.

Start off with a core of genre ratings. Rate 5-10 genres you particularly like and leave the rest blank.

Next, maybe look up your personal CD collection in Launchcast and rate the songs. The idea is to get you above 500 ';quality'; ratings quickly. If you like lots of different genres, make sure you rate CDs from each of the types of music you like.

Next, find some artists you like and listen to their fan station, rating each song as you hear it. You could also do this with the pre-programmed stations. This again builds up good ratings in areas you like.

If you want to look up artists you like and rate them, that is fine, but bear this in mind: When you give an artist rating, you are saying that you like everything by that artist equally. Often, that's not the case. It's OK to give high ratings to artists you really like, but I wouldn't give a medium or low rating to an artist where you just like a few of their songs.

I could go on and on (and already have). Good luck, and if you want any more tips or discuss rating strategies, give me a holler.

Does a HD TV automatically make the picture look clear or does the station you are watching have to use HD?

It only looks clearer if it's HD content - so yes, the station you're watching has to broadcast in HD, or you have to be watching very high quality source material (like DVDs). I have an HDTV, and I've found that standard definition television actually looks much WORSE on an HDTV. You can really see all the static, lines, graininess, and/or fuzziness (known as ';artifacts';) in the signal that you wouldn't notice on a regular TV.Does a HD TV automatically make the picture look clear or does the station you are watching have to use HD?

no the station has to be broadcast in a ATSC (HD) signal but you have to have a built in ATSC tuner! how to find out if it does just look in the owners manual it should tell you. if not you have to buy a separate set top box for it to recive in HD signals.
It has to be broadcast in HD too, that's why sky have seperate HD channels, to rip you off for more even money to have HD.

Am i correct in saying i can see the Mir space station on a clear night.?

I thought Mir burned up over Australia a few decades ago. Don't you mean the ISS?Am i correct in saying i can see the Mir space station on a clear night.?
No. The remains of the Mir space station went into the ocean a few years ago, after it was decomissioned. It was only intended to be used for a few years, and repairs were eventually mounting up in both number and cost. So it was abandoned and then guided into the Earth's atmosphere, and coordinated so that it would mostly burn up on re-entry, and anything still solid would fall into the middle of, I believe, the Pacific Ocean.
You mean the ISS. And yes its possible to see it by the naked eye.
no it is not MIR, Mir space station burned up in Earth's atmosphere around 2000-2001, it is either a really bright star that you are seeing or the International space station, if it's orbit path passes directly where you are.
yes sometimes you can see it ISS

    it looks like a star
Is it the International Space Station you mean? Apparantly its the brightest object in the sky so you should be able to see it on a clear night.
No it's not Mir your seeing it is the iss you can see when it is in your area it normally passes within 3to4 minutes as it travels at about 16000 miles per hour approx!
The Russian space station Mir, was shut down at the end of the 1990s, when it was abandoned and allowed to crash to Earth.
If you can see the MIR -you're doing well - it fell to earth years ago !

(袦懈褉, which can mean both world and peace in Russian) was a Soviet (and later Russian) orbital station. It was humanity's first consistently inhabited long-term research station in space. Mir currently holds the record for longest continuous human presence in space at eight days short of 10 years. Through a number of collaborations, it was made internationally accessible to cosmonauts and astronauts of many different countries. Mir was assembled in orbit by successively connecting several modules, each launched separately from February 19, 1986 to 1996. The station existed until March 23, 2001, at which point it was deliberately de-orbited, and broke apart during atmospheric re-entry.
    Star. Mir crashed years ago.

You might see the ISS however.
Mir space station does not exist anymore. if you want to track the International Space station NASA web page shows you when and where and when to look. Web page is.
THE ANSWER IS NO YOU CANT BECAUSE ITS NOT THERE ANYMORE MIR CRASHED INTO THE PACIFIC OCEAN.

BUT YOU CAN SEE THE ISS ( INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION)
    MIR was destroyed in 2001.
I thought it had already crashed back to earth?

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/1236鈥?/a>

See what else it may have been...

    http://www.heavens-above.com/
yes if you know were it landed back on earth.
I am sure u wont see Mir as it fell back to earth, but u will see the ISS on a good clear night it appears bright. Go into NASA and inti ISS and u will see its position 24/7

ISS = International Space Station Mir was Russian, too much in a hurry I thought ha ha
They are right, Mir is gone. But if you want to see the ISS, you can use these websites to help you figure out when it will fly over your area. You'll know it's the ISS when you see a light traveling quickly across the sky. It orbits the Earth once every 95 minutes or so. Stars will be effectively stationary when viewed over a span of a few minutes.

Note: the orbital inclination of ISS is 51.6 deg. If you live north of 51.6 deg N or south of 51.6 deg S you probably won't be able to see it because it won't be flying overhead.
it does`nt exist any more! it was sent into the earths atmosphere and burned up. do you mean the united space station?
not unless your swimming its in the ocean now
you can with a telescope but i am not sure if it can be seen with the naked eye. sometimes, some satalites can be seen with the naked eye on clear nights. if it is the mir station then it should not be stationary as it orbits the planet. so if it is always in the same position then i doubt it is the mir.
Just like many of the answers below have stated over and over agian, the Mir Space Station it not in orbit anymore. Although, what you may have seen is the ISS or another sattelite. Many times after sunset you can see a brief flash of light called an Iranium Flare, which is simply the sun reflecting off the solar panels. Also, after dusk you may see a star like object moving swiftly through the sky, this is also a sattelite.

Why does the radio station come in crystal clear and then?

when I roll back to the desk it gets all staticy? What up with that? Why does the radio station come in crystal clear and then?
You are the source of it's power. So keep close to it and don't move. Why does the radio station come in crystal clear and then?
its because of interference with he signal, you need to find a spot for the radio where it has a really good signal that wont be messed up by anyone walking by it or walking away from it.
maybe you are pulling in the frequency with your body...
at certain times of days the stations change the frequency so they don't interfere with each other. the shape of the soundwaves is different, depending on what the shape is, the signal is stronger or weaker
You are basically becoming an antenna. Sometimes the antenna that is you, helps the station you are listenig to and sometimes it interferes with it.
    Dunno

Is it becoming more clear to America that Fox News is the only reputable tv news station left?

Last Wednesday, day 6 of ACORNgate.

On Fox: A 400,000 member organization in 100 US cities supports human trafficking, child prostitution, tax evasion and maybe even murder.

On ABC, CBS and NBC: Michelle won some sort of a best dressed contest. Is it becoming more clear to America that Fox News is the only reputable tv news station left?

Is it becoming more clear to America that Fox News is the only reputable tv news station left?
ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN and all other liberal ';bias'; media are in Competition with one another. Fox News has no conservative competitor. They have sole monopoly on conservative slant... and right-wing rant. They're not reaching the audience they need for Republicans to win elections. They only cater to the extreme fringe of their party. I hope they keep it up.
Oh god, this question is going to get epic answers lol. No news station is reputable. No media source is unbiased. I go to foreign websites because their sources are reputable and they don't merely speak what people want to hear they tell the truth. I can't believe the news stations get away with their garbage.
No, not completely reputable at all. They stir the pot to get higher ratings because they know the repubs will tune in to get their ideas and mantras in order. The Libs tune in to see what the repubs are up to counter their ideals. With both sides tuning in of course they will get a larger audience and thrive on it.
Beyond question and the ratings show it

I just loved the one about the evil White's carrying guns to the tea party with their close up of his back and gun Than Fox showed us the whole man it was a evil black man

I wish Fox had interviewed the camera man and called out this liberal half wit
While I believe they haven't sold out I still think it's all about money. But the other news networks have really sold us down the river. There was a time when news reporters had integrity. You would never want to tell a reporter anything because they would dig for the truth. Now they don't even know what a reporters job is.
    Only to the sheep. Baaaaa.
Because they are the only ones with the fortitude to give us 1/2 the truth about the corruption going on in Washington, hate to think what they aren't reporting since what they are is so deeply infested with corruption.
    All TV news is biased.

Same with newspapers, radio, whatever. The only way to know for sure is to find the facts yourself.
Not really. The reception here is rather hazy and biased. Nothing is clear about Fox, well, except that they are one-sided.
You are being entertained and having your ears tickled. It's just the other side of the same coin.

(The bleach blonde side, I might add. Just kidding!)
Agreed. Although, CNN does have some redeeming value at times.

To Saxton...I like Shepard Smith. Alan Colmes makes excuses for Obama just like every other Liberal on cable news.
there are NO reputable TV mainstream news stations. get some new sources...independent from the corporate media and in particular, AWAY FROM RUPERT MURDOCH.
If more ratings means more reputable, then you right wing nut jobs have to agree that Obama was the better choice because he got more votes.

And Al Gore was our true president.
No, exactly the opposite is true of Fox News. Every time I try to watch Fox news Bill O'Reilly is shouting someone down. Why does he bother to invite guests when he won't let them speak?
oh ya.......theyve hired criminals like oliver north and mark furman....who better to report on crime?
    It sure is!

All others hype up the gimmicks and ignore the real issues (and you know who I'm talking about.)
Obviously since they remain number one.
    No it's completely unclear.
They became much more reputable when the Weekly World News folded up shop in 2007.
they wouldn't partake in the scripited interview propaganda piece this

    Sunday!!!
Fox News tells you what YOU want to hear i am sure you never agreed with Alan Colmes or for that matter Shepard Smith

    did you ?
    Ha! You're funny!
    Yes! Crystal
I just threw up in my mouth, just a tad bit. But I will wash it out with some Bill o'reilly paper...Faux News is just blatantly awful.
Nope, you probably think so though
Damn, that was funny. Got any other jokes?
    You've lost it buddy.
    Ehh.

    No.

    Peace ;D
Yay!!!!! A gag question for once!
I like to watch Fox News because you get a good picture of what's going on politically in the US. You don't have to watch all the news channels to see their various spins on the issues. Just watch Fox and you can extrapolate the spin of the more liberal outlets based on the right wing spin they put on it.

All news is biased. Except perhaps the BBC.

Why when searching for a radio station, classical fm is always crystal clear no matter what?

example, trying to find galaxy or radio 1 to listen to while in the car. You might get the station but its not very good quality but no matter were you are you never get this problem with classical fm, why is this, anyone ???Why when searching for a radio station, classical fm is always crystal clear no matter what?
Why would you want to listen to Galaxy or Radio 1 anyway? Why when searching for a radio station, classical fm is always crystal clear no matter what?
No - I guess I misread the question then!

The regular issue why Classic FM is always so much louder than Radio 3. I would have thought the BBC would have a similar number of transmitters for Radio 3 as Radio 1, but haven't researched this.

Because they have a lot of transmitters so you are always close to one.

They broadcast over a wide bandwidth (range of signals) so you can always receive a suitable signal.

They broadcast at high power, drowning out pirate stations that are using their bandwidth illegally.

    Cheers,

    Ben
? because there aren't any pirate stations crowding next to it's frequency and interfering

Ben, are you suggesting that ClassicFM has more transmitters at more power than Radio 1 ? I don't think so! But there are plenty of pirates around it.

How can i make a radio station clear?

How clear would the earth appear to someone who is on a space station in Proxima Centauri?

if they were observing us with a powerful telescope? How clear would the earth appear to someone who is on a space station in Proxima Centauri?
The best way to answer this question is by knowing how many earth sized planets we have detected around other nearby stars. None. We lack sufficient power to resolve earth sized planets around distant stars. Instead, we detect exosolar planets by the wobble they introduce in their primaries (the stars they orbit).

At the present time an earth sized mass is simply too small to create a wobble we could detect at even 4.3 light years. So someone on a space station orbitting Proxima Centauri (or some planet thereof) could not see any planet in our solar system with equipment as powerless as what we now possess.

The Terrestrial Planet Finder project, which would have been launched by NASA around 2014, would have been an interferometer optical space based telescope powerful enough to resolve surface features on earth sized terrestrial worlds orbitting distant suns. Way cool! But we spent the money on the Iraq war instead.

Taoetemu (immediately above) gives a good response to this question. How clear would the earth appear to someone who is on a space station in Proxima Centauri?
Visual telescopes would not be powerful enough to see anything but the Sun, and maybe Jupiter as a spot of light. This has more to do with the wave properties of light than with the quality and size of the telescope. So, no they are not observing us. They may be monitoring our radio and electronic emissions, so they are probably watching reruns of Star Trek by now. That should scare them off.

Chances are, though. that if we haven't picked up any emissions from them, they don't use radio/electromagnetic waves, so aren't monitoring us.

To Jane, above me, Proxima Centauri is about 3.5 light years away. Andromeda is about 2.5 million light years away.
Agree that no telescope could directly observe earth from 4 light years away. If they were monitoring anything it would likely be the radio transmissions. But that star system does not look promising for life to originate thare to have anyone listening to begin with.
With a large enough telescope (perhaps 100m?) (or array of telescopes using optical interferometry), with powerful enough resolution and if special masking techniques were used to block the glare of the sun, you could see the Earth from Proxima Centauri.

The inverse is true as well. If we build such a telescope in space we may be able to view the continents of earth-like planets around some of the closer stars. Using these techniques we are already able to view and measure the disks of nearby stars. In 10 - 20 years it may be possible to directly view Jupiter sized and even smaller planets around other nearby stars.

It is interesting to me that most who have answered this question assume current earth bound technological abilities instead of thinking about what would be possible theoretically.
Proxima centauri , alpha centauri and beta centauri make a triplet star system . so it is supposed to be very hot . how could you expect a space station there . and it is around a 1oo light years away from earth. by the time you send a space probe to proxima centauri you wil be dead coz man lives only a 100 years and with the technology that we have (super sonic vehicles) it would take more than 400 years. but i can say the size of the earth depends on technological development. or it may appear like the planets in Andromeda which is also 110 light years away i gues.

  • What is a ';clear channel'; AM radio station and how many are there currently in the U.S.?

I remember listening to KEX in Portland, OR, which used to advertise they were ';clear channel';, still on 1190 kHz.What is a ';clear channel'; AM radio station and how many are there currently in the U.S.?
When talking about standard broadcast ';AM'; band, stations operating at night have their signals propagated very long distances. Since the same frequencies are used by local stations all over the country, this can create so much interference that you couldn't hear any clearly. Therefore regulations were made to allocate certain channels to be used exclusively by just ONE station at night. That way the local interference is eliminated and the designated ';clear channel'; station will be heard at great distances.

    640, 650, 660, 670, 700, 720, 750, 760, 770, 780, 820, 830, 840, 870, 880, 890, 1020, 1030, 1040, 1100, 1120, 1160, 1180, 1200, and 1210 kHz.

There is one designated 50KW station for each of these channels. A local station using one of these frequencies turns its transmitter off during night-time hours. What is a ';clear channel'; AM radio station and how many are there currently in the U.S.?
based out of san antonio they have 52 frequencies and 1200 stations with over 700 of them on am, many on both broadcasts.

ClearChannel likely integrates some form of DRM into their streams preventing you from streaming the content in any browser other than Internet Explorer. If you still wish to play the stream from Firefox, you can do so with the IE Tab extension for Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1419

After installation, add the URL of the stream to the filter by right-clicking the IE Tab Firefox icon on the bottom right of the Firefox window and enter the stream's URL into the Sites Filter tab.
